This week was Karen’s choice, and here’s what she had to say about her prompt pick:
“For this week’s #inspiby, Gerda had me at the first brilliantly bright layer in her black Dylusions journal. I love the chalky yet almost water-color-like effect she got from the purples and oranges. From there, she just adds more depth and interest with each different product she uses, and I love to see the page develop before our eyes. She includes distressed die cuts and ghostly stencil silhouettes with white highlights, and she uses distress oxide inks – which I adore.
This “Don’t Be Afraid…Art Journal Page” is just a super fun and spooky page overall! Add to the fact that it’s Halloween themed, and I thought it was perfect for fall. I hope you are as inspired as I am to create a spooky fun page inspired by Gerda van Dijk.”
Thanks Karen! I love everything Fall and Halloween themed and am already dreaming up ideas using the gorgeous fall colors. If you don’t have a black journal, no worries, you could always paint your pages black or perhaps glue down black paper into your journal. If you recall weeks ago, I did this for one of our prompts with good results.
