This week was Karen’s choice! Here’s what she had to say about this week’s challenge prompt:
For this week’s #inspiby challenge I am super excited to try out mixed media techniques from Creations Ceecee’s Catherine Cote who designed this layout for Scrapbook Centrale. This art journaling page entitled “danser sous la pluie,” is from the French stamp she uses from Carabelle Studio which is roughly translated to dancing in the rain.
For those of you worried about translations, don’t be – Catherine speaks in English throughout the video and has French text directions as well. While I graduated bilingual en francais from high school – trust me when I say it has been too long – je ne parle pas francais! Although I can understand a lot more than I can speak.
Two things from this YouTube stood out to me – first of all, using gesso to mix and spread the gelatos! How cool. And the second is the light bright feel of the page that she builds up layer by delicate layer into a colorful and texturally rich picture that simply makes me smile every time I look at it. If my page and my interpretation of her techniques go half as well as hers I will be very happy!
Plus, she uses my favorite – Faber-Castell big brush markers – so you know it has to be a great page! She includes helpful tips, tricks, and reminders for using all the products. If you enjoy technique and process videos then you will love many of her art journal pages. I highly recommend checking out both Scrapbook Centrale videos and well as CreationsCeecee YouTube videos.
Be sure to follow Scrapbook Centrale not only on YouTube but also on their other social links:

As always you can recreate this layout (if you do please be sure to give Ceecee credit) or use it as inspiration when creating your own! You have until this Sunday at midnight to post pictures of your layout to Instagram using the #inspiby tag. Don’t forget to tag and follow both Karen (@deeillustra) and myself (@happilywe go) so that we can see your journal pages and also follow along with you on your art journey!
Have a wonderful week and Happy Creating!
XO- Erin & Karen too!
