I kept it sweet and simple this week using elements from Tiffany’s flow to create my art journal layout. Continue reading “Creative Flow Episode #6”
Hey hey hello!
Man, January is just flying by! For our second Creative Flow Episode this month, I had fun creating with my mini me! (Well ok, she didn’t help me create it but she sure had fun helping me with the voice over!) As you know, or maybe you are new to the Flow, Tiffany and I both created a ‘flowish’ journal stuffed full of goodies and mailed them to each other. Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month we upload a video showcasing what we have created using 3 items from the flow we were sent.
Check out my process video below to see what 3 things I chose this week:

Hello My Creative Peeps!
This week I was crazy busy. I have so much to get done before the Happily We Go store launches and October is my busiest month as I have four of my five children’s birthdays to celebrate! Buuuuut, I am hoping to still find a wee bit of crafting time each week, mainly for my own sanity! (LOL)
For this week’s Inspiby, we were inspired by the gorgeous layout from Wilna. I didn’t feel like I had as much time this week to devote to a journaling layout but knew I could use the same techniques that she showed us in her video to create some Halloween cards. Hey, If there is a way for me to kill two birds with one stone, I’m going to do it! *wink
Here’s how I created the card:
I hope you enjoyed this week’s video! Here are the supplies I used to create this card:

I hope you had as much fun as I did creating this week! I look forward to seeing pictures of your layouts on Instagram!
This week I was tired. Do you ever feel like the pressures of life and the day to day have just gotten you down? This time every year, it happens to me. Fall, which happens to be my favorite season also seems to be my hardest season. Allergies are at their worst here in Texas (well for me anyway), its the transition of getting back into the school routine and the start of the holiday season looming before me. Have you ever felt that way? Well this week, for the ‘Inspired By Challenge’, I created my girl with positive affirmations that flowed from her. Reminders to myself that it’s OK to feel the way I’m feeling and that it doesn’t make me less of a person, a mother, a wife, a friend- whatever hat you have donned, you are ENOUGH. I didn’t make a video this week, I was late in posting this, but ya know what, that’s OK! Everyone needs to stop and take a breather now and then and I am not going to let myself, well, beat myself up.
To begin, I grabbed my Dylusions landscape journal. I had yet to create in this journal and I thought this week was the perfect layout to break it in. I started by collaging some papers onto the pages.
I used some handmade papers with real pressed flowers, some decoupage papers from Deco Mache and The Paper Studio and kraft paper. I randomly ripped the papers and glued them in with matte medium. Then I took some white gesso and using my fingers, I painted it around parts of the page. With a charcoal pencil, I drew in my girl. I grabbed my watercolors and colored in around her to help warm up the layout. (I can’t tell you which brand I used because I created them myself! *wink) Using a fountain pen I wrote in the affirmations and positive notes to myself along the strands of her hair. Then using the charcoal pencil again I framed the layout.
Here is a close-up of my finished layout.
Sometimes you just need to quiet the negativity in your mind and just follow the flow of creativity. In the end, I really enjoyed creating my girl this week and many thanks to Toni for taking the fear out of drawing faces!
Happy Creating All!
